DISCLAIMER: This trip is only a "go" if the road to Corin Dam car park is accessible. I may decide to cancel the trip as late as Sunday, 11 August 2019, 0700hrs.
If you're looking for an adventurous and challenging trip, this is it! Weather, especially wind, is forecast to be a bit rough http://www.bom.gov.au/act/forecasts/mountginini.shtml and there will be some snowfall, so please measure yourself accordingly. This walk is suitable for fit and experienced walkers who can handle steep uphill walking. This will be a good introduction to some of the harder snowshoe walks the Australian Alps has to offer. There is a total of 1150 vertical meters gained on this walk. Please note there will be snow for almost the entire walk so dress and gear up appropriately.
Undeterred? Then you're set for a stunning and rewarding 21-km day walk to the top of the ACT’s second highest mountain (1857m) amid a landscape of sub-alpine woodland. We will start our walk from Corin Dam and ascend the Stockyard Spur trail gaining 500m vertical within 2km. We will continue climbing until we reach the undulating Mt Franklin road, where we will continue on until we reach Pryors Hut for a break. After our break, we will continue the Mt Gingera track where we will ascend to the summit and enjoy the spectacular views and some lunch. We will retrace our steps all the way back to the car.

In the unlikely event we need to bail out, we can always retrace our steps back to the car park from anywhere along the Stockyard Spur, Mt Franklin Road, or Pryors Hut. I will personally review our progress after each segment of the walk. It is still a good walk even if we only manage to get to Pryors Hut and back.
Please also explain your level of bushwalking and snowshoeing experience in the "Additional Information" box below.
