Skin/snowshoe to Blue Lake for ice climbing. In the afternoon go back to the trees to camp. Next Day Blue Lake again before heading back to Guthega.
We will be skinning or snowshoeing (depending on personal preference) from Guthega to camp near Little Twynam for one night and climb at Blue Lake during the day. At Blue Lake we will climb ice with axes and crampons on top rope and in the process learn snow anchors and ice anchors.
We will leave 04:00 from ANU Sport on the Monday and arrive back at ANU sport the next day (Tuesday) at about 20:00.
Gear list will be provided to participants, but things to consider are crampon compatible boots (AT ski boots, mountaineering boots), very warm clothing/sleeping bags/sleeping mats, tough overpants and waterproof jacket, waterproof and warm gloves, harness and 4 season tent.
