Come climb with me!
This is a beginner friendly trip for people interested in learning how to climb outside (or if you’re experienced and just wanna have a fun day out). We will be going to Snake Rock (https://www.thecrag.com/en/climbing/australia/gibraltar-peak-and-corin-road-crags/snake-rock), which is primarily a sport climbing and top roping crag - it has a wide range of grades so there will be something for everyone. The approach is pretty simple and short (approx 10 mins) but is quite steep and there is a river crossing.
The plan:
Leave 8am from ANU sport, have an epic climbing day (of top roping and lead climbing if you're keen), come back around 5pm.
What you'll need:
A belay pass/must know how to top rope belay
harness (GS)
climbing shoes (GS)
helmet (GS)
Sport rack and rope (not essential, only if you have it and know how to sport climb)
2L water
Food
Backpack to comfortably carry all your stuff in with
Good (enough) walking shoes (the approach is chill but not Birkenstocks chill).
*GS = can get @ gear store
The number of people able to come on the trip will depend on the number of experienced people signing up and the number of cars.
