The Kayaking Skills Training continues at the Queanbeyan Pool!
If you are a beginner or intermediate paddler, these sessions are for you. This program is designed to improve your skills before you head out on your first (or next) whitewater or sea kayaking adventure. This is not a formal course and there is no certification. We will practice basic paddling skills. You will improve command of your paddle and your kayak. In so doing, you will become more confident and capable on moving water and be able to better effect self and assisted rescues. When you are ready, you may even conquer the holy grail of kayaking - the kayak roll. More advanced paddlers with a roll should take this opportunity to practice improving your kayak rolling techniques.
Bring the following:
Essential: thermals/rashee or wetsuit, swimmers, wind protection such as a cag, warm clothes change, towel, soap, cash for your fees.
Additional: diving mask or swim goggles and nose clamp.
There is also a canteen for the hungry or thirsty.
This is the last session at this venue.
Meet at the Boat Shed at 1615 so we can load kayaks and depart for our road trip to Qbn Pool. We want to arrive by 1715 and be on the water by 1730.
