If you are interested in spending your long weekend climbing in the blueys this trip is for you! With loads of varied climbing spots in close proximity, it is sure to be a fun weekend of climbing. Think crack climbing at Piddo (Mt Piddington) and some of the best bolt clipping at Shipley and the Glen. The plan is to leave Canberra on Friday morning (9th June) and head straight for the Blueys. Set up camp at either Mt York or one of the campgrounds and climb to our heart's content for the whole weekend.
As with most climbing trips, the number of beginners that we can take on this trip is highly dependent on the number of experienced climbers we get signing up. This is to ensure that the trip is not only safe but also fun for everyone. If you are a beginner, do not hesitate to sign up (I will let you know if we do or do not have space).
In terms of gear, you will at the very least need some personal gear like:
- Harness
- Helmet
- ATC
- Sling(s)
- Climbing shoes
- Carabiners
- Tent/sleeping bag/sleeping mat
- Camping stove/cutlery/crockery
- Food
- Warm/waterproof clothes
Having a couple of racks of trad gear and some ropes (other than club ropes) would also be helpful. So if you have any of this gear please bring it on the trip.
There will be a pre-trip on 7th of June so if you have any questions come along to that.
