TRIP FULL - Please don't sign up any more.
- Date updated: Sat 2 March.
A taste of canyoning, where we combine bushwalking, rope skills, swimming, jumping and anything else we need to safely explore the amazing and mysterious environment found inside a canyon. The top location in Australia is the Blue Mountains, but there are also day trips near Canberra suitable for beginners, and we have two options for this trip.
Option 1 - Tuross Falls - no ropes are required to explore this river and gorge system, but there are excellent natural water-slides, impressive rock formations and plenty of swims. This is a chance to come and try canyoning, so we know you are comfortable with a day trip. No skills required except walking and swimming, and not too challenging physically but a full day of activity.
Option 2 - Macquarie Cascades - if everyone has abseiled before or can come to an abseil practice session, this is a good introduction to canyoning with ropes. There is a series of up to 7 abseils, some in waterfalls, in a scenic setting. It's a fairly short day of activity.
When signing up, please indicate whether or not you've abseiled before, so we know which destination will be best for the group. The pre-trip meeting will also be important to make sure you pick up the right gear from the gear store. Please email me if you have any questions!
(Note date change to Saturday 2 March, because it will be nicer in warmer weather. Also I've corrected the pre-trip to Wednesday, 6.45pm, the new gear store opening time.)
