To start the ski season, this is a very short day trip to check out snow conditions. We will go to the Farm Creek area near Perisher and climb up to the Paralyser (so called because of cold winds, not because of any unfortunate accidents!) It is near to the ski resort (adding safety), but feels very tranquil and often gets good snow early in the season.
The basic route is Guthega-Farm Creek-Paralyser and then skiing short slopes off the Paralyser if the snow permits. Then back to Guthega quite early (back to car at 4pm at the latest).
I would propose doing this trip on the club's pattern-base telemark skis, because there is not much vertical and some ups and downs that suit pattern-bases. If you are a reasonably experienced alpine skier these skis are quite easy to use on the short, gentle slopes we will encounter. Let me know your overall skill level when you sign up.
This will be a small group but don't worry, there will be more trips to come!
[Re. skill level - this trip is beginner backcountry skiing. You still need to be able to ski blue runs at the ski resort.]
