Have you ever wanted to try climbing outdoors? Then this is the trip for you!
We will go sport climbing at Huskisson Homo and Hill Top Hoods Gully in Tianjara, probably the best place to learn how to climb outdoors since it has a lot of low grades and higher grades if you're feeling confident. By the end of the trip, you will have 1) experienced climbing outdoors, 2) learned how to belay outdoors, and 3) learned how to flake a rope.
The drive to Tianjara is about 2 hours so we'll maximise the summer day! We'll meet at ANU Sport at 7:30 AM and aim to get back by 6-7 PM.
Beginner spots on this trip will be limited depending on number of experienced sign ups and drivers. Sorry in advance if you don't get on the trip. We'll try to run more throughout the year.
Pre-trip meeting: 25 February, Wednesday, 5:45 PM at the climbing wall. Not mandatory but if you have any questions about hiring gear etc., you can catch me at the wall, then go to the gear store after. Also feel free to reach out other time if you have questions.
Things to bring:
- Water & food
- Sunscreen
- Climbing helmet*
- Climbing harness*
- Climbing shoes*
- Belay device (if you have)
*These can be hired out at the gear store. Belay devices can also be hired out but I'll bring some for the group so no need to hire it out.
In case of an emergency, the nearest hospitals are the Nowra Private Hospital and Milton Ulladula Hospital. The craf also has regular cell service.
