Durras North is (supposedly :D)the jewel of the south coast of NSW. This trip offers options for both lake and sea kayaking for beginners and more advanced paddlers. Durras Lake is tidal and is currently open to the sea. The beach is south facing and typically provides a small surf break, protected from north easterly winds. Depending on the prevailing conditions, we can do one or more of the following: Practice paddling skills on the lake, in the surf and explore some of the coastline heading north to Kioloa or south toward Batemans Bay. These paddling trips will be day trips - out and back from Durras North. We will only venture out to sea if we get a favourable forecast. We will camp at Durras Lake North Holiday Park. Bring camping gear and food for 2 x breakfasts, lunch & dinners. The pre-trip is next Thursday 5th March- see below. We will select kayaks and other gear and have an opportunity to discuss what we all need to know. On Thursday 12th March we will meet at the boat shed to pack the trailer. I will depart and tow the trailer on Friday (13 March) morning arriving at Durras North by midday. Others are welcome to leave at this time with me. Here is the link to the Batemans Bay Hospital: https://www.snswlhd.health.nsw.gov.au/our-facilities/batemans-ba Notes to Participants The fee for camping is $24 per person per night.
