Dyurrite and Gariwerd (Arapiles and Grampians) spring mid-sem break trip!

Trip flyer

This is a trip to Dyurrite (Arapiles) and/or Gariwerd (Grampians) in Victoria during the second semester mid-sem break.  Your trip leaders are me, Amelia (I now live in Melbourne and will meet you guys at Dyurrite) and George (your man-on-the-ground in Canberra).

Dates

The exact dates of this trip are somewhat up for negotiation, but given the loooong drive (9.5 hours from Canberra to Dyurrite), please only sign up if you are willing and able to take at least a week off to make the drive worth it.  I will be encouraging people to drive down over two days with an overnight stop somewhere along the way.

Mandatory experience

Dyurrite is almost exclusively trad climbing, so to come on this trip you will need to have:

  1. at least some trad experience (lead or seconding); and
  2. multi-pitch experience (trad or sport).

If you do not have this experience yet but want to come, consider signing up to Bianca's Mt Gibraltar Multi-Pitch Climb trip in August and keep an eye out on the trip calendar for other climbing trips and skills days over the next few months.

Please make sure to give me a good amount of detail about your climbing experience when you sign up if I don't already know you.

Camping and food

You will also need to be comfortable camping for up to a week at a time with limited amenities (the campsite at Dyurrite has communal toilets and a sink, but not much else).  The nearest town (Natimuk, 10 mins drive away) doesn't have a lot of food options and no supermarkets, but we could make the 30-ish minute drive to Horsham once or twice partway through the trip where there are supermarkets and an aquatic centre with showers.

Group numbers

We will pick participants based on the number of drivers and experienced climbers who sign up.
